Recently, data released by the China Bearing Industry Association showed that the proportion of R&D investment in the domestic bearing production industry increased to 4.2% in 2025, up 0.8 percentage points from last year. Technological innovation is becoming the core engine driving the high-quality development of the industry. In bearing industry clusters such as Shandong and Zhejiang, a number of enterprises have broken through traditional development bottlenecks by making breakthroughs in materials, processes, and intelligent production, pushing domestic bearings toward the high-end market.
Material innovation has solidified the foundation of quality. The once-imported high-end bearing steel has now achieved domestic breakthroughs. Shandong Yueheng Precision Bearing, in collaboration with universities, developed "ultra-fine-grained bearing steel" through vacuum degassing and isothermal quenching techniques, increasing the steel's purity by 30%. The resulting bearings exceeded 1.2 million revolutions in fatigue life tests, marking a 50% improvement over traditional products. For new energy vehicle applications, the company's ceramic composite bearings have enhanced heat resistance to 350°C, successfully meeting the high-speed operation demands of electric motors.
Technological upgrades have achieved precision breakthroughs. The widespread adoption of five-axis synchronized grinding machines has propelled bearing manufacturing precision into the micron era. At Yueheng's production facility, real-time laser interferometer calibration maintains the inner ring roundness error within 0.5μm and achieves an ultra-low surface roughness of Ra0.1μm, meeting international P4-grade standards. "Our self-developed adaptive grinding system dynamically adjusts parameters based on steel hardness, boosting the pass rate from 96% to 99.8%," explained Technical Director Engineer Li.
Intelligent manufacturing boosts efficiency and empowers operations. Industrial internet platforms are now widely adopted by industry leaders. Yueheng's "Digital Twin System for Bearing Full Process" enables complete data traceability from raw material warehousing to finished product dispatch. In production workshops, robots perform assembly and inspection tasks, while AI-powered quality control systems quadruple inspection efficiency and reduce false detection rates to below 0.1%.
Technological innovation is driving market expansion. In 2025, the export value of high-end bearings in China is expected to grow by 22% year-on-year, with the domestic substitution rate in sectors such as wind power and robotics exceeding 55%. The China Bearing Industry Association stated that it will continue to build platforms for industry-academia-research collaboration to help the industry overcome more technical challenges.
