Structural Design
The bearing consists of four key components:
- Inner Ring:Features two raceways with ribs for roller guidance.
- Outer Ring:Has a concave spherical raceway ground into its bore. The center of curvature of this raceway coincides with the bearing center, enabling the self-alignment.
- Rollers:Barrel-shaped (spherical) rollers, either symmetrical or asymmetrical, roll freely within the outer ring’s spherical path, allowing tilt and rotation.
- Cage:Positions and separates the rollers, minimizing friction and guiding rotation. Cages are typically made of pressed steel or machined brass. The bearing houses two rows of rollers for high load capacity.
